PUBH6013 Qualitative Research Methods

Introduction

The report is based on analyzing the role of public health in improving health outcomes. In this assessment, research questions are described and the literature review summarises the chosen topic. The main goal of public health is to improving health results for populations through the accomplishing of objectives of protecting from diseases and health consequences of environmental damage.

Step 1:

This step includes some research questions which are related to the public health in fluences on people. It helps in analyzing the social, cultural and other factors that mainly affects the health and disease(Garfin, et. al., 2020). Along with this, it examines the scope and purpose of the research associated with public health properly.

Develop a Research Question

  1. Evaluate the study of social, cultural, economic, and political factors that influence health and diseases?
  2. How to examine interactions between various stakeholders in issues of public health importance?
  3. How people and their communities interpret health and disease?

Explain module 1 to familiarise with the scope and purpose of qualitative research

Qualitative research is useful and important when the research concentrates on complex problems that include human behaviour and felt demands. Qualitative research defines the research which is mainly concerned with investigating the meaning and focus on evaluating and understanding the nature of issues. Its main motive is to generate a rich understanding of particular issues(Khoury, et. al., 2018). It will be evaluated that qualitative research is increasingly being accepted as required in public health and it is mainly used for maintaining and managing public health in a proper manner. Although qualitative research has been highly contributing to public health at a global level and it receives their due to the field of public health to develop nations. The main aim of this assessment is to introduce qualitative research to the students and researchers in public health in developing countries and also motivate them to use the research in a better way. It is analysed that it is not done to condense all the qualitative research methods into one journals article. The scope of this research is to analyze the influence of public health on the people.

Step 2:

Brief literature review to summarise the existing knowledge and justify the proposed project

As per the view of Savarese, et. al., (2017)various kinds of factors influence health and diseases such as social, cultural, economic and political factors. The social factors influence the health and diseases in such a manner in which the social awareness and the financial conditions enforce the situation of health and diseases. Economic conditions influence health and diseases because of the dependency of individuals on economic conditions for health and diseases. The political factors in the society make the rules and regulations or policies and procedures for the whole society which highly influences the health and diseases in the society and organizations. The cultural aspects also influence health and diseases as the cultural factors of the organisation to decide the awareness and informativeness of the people.

In the opinion of Gottlieb, et. al., (2017)The interaction between the various stakeholders in the issues of public health importance can be done by various kinds. The stakeholders like patients, physicians, and pharmaceutical interact with each other for the public health issues done with the help of the interaction and mutual consent for the issues arising in this industry. The various kinds of stakeholders are involved in the issues of the public health importance for the interaction and other methods.

According to the view of Li, et. al., (2019)The people and community interpret the health and diseases in their way. In people and community, health and disease are being interpreted as the ways which will improve the lifestyle of the people and society. The health and diseases are being treated as the blockhead in the way of standard lifestyle without any issues. The health issues are a serious problem in society and are being called as resistance in the community which costs financial, social and economic price to the communities and people. The health and diseases are being interpreted in such a manner in the community of people for tackling them in various ways suggested by the political and social impact.

Research question and the knowledge gap that it will address

  1. Evaluate the study of social, cultural, economic, and political factors that influence health and diseases?
  2. How to examine interactions between various stakeholders in issues of public health importance?
  3. How people and their communities interpret health and disease?

The knowledge gap will be addressed regarding the identification of the scope and purpose of public health. It is important for the researcher is to analyse more for public health and understand more concepts. In addition to this, it is required for the investigator is to formulate and develop desired research questions that are related to the public health that will be the chosen topic of this assessment(Frank, et. al., 2017). The researcher can also focus on how to improve the health of different countries people and how to deal with major diseases which suffered most of the people. Also, promote the behavior which can reduce the issue and risk of communicable and non-communicable diseases. To understand how to monitor health status and resolve community health issues. It investigates the health problems and hazards in the community. Item powers the people regarding health problems and mobilizes the community partnership and action to recognize the issues of health accurately.

Key elements of the methodology

The research methodology is the process and method which is used to identify, process, selects, and examines the information regarding a topic. In this study, the methodology sections enable the readers to critically determine and evaluate the study’s overall reliability and validity in a proper manner(Masters, et. al., 2017).

Research approach

It is that approach which is a plan and process which consists of steps of broad predictions and assumptions of detailed techniques of collect data interpret and analyze. It is based on the nature of research issues which is being addressed. There are two forms of research approach that includes inductive and deductive. In this, researchers will use a deductive approach that assists in collecting and gathering correct knowledge for developing investigation.

Grounded theory

It is the systematic methodology in social science that involves the constructions of theories with the help of methodical collection and analyses the required data in a better way. The research methodology uses inductive reasoning.

Phenomenology

It is that study that involves the structure of awareness as experienced from first individualperspectives. It is the form of qualitative research that mainly concentrates on the study of the individual life experiences(Peres, et. al., 2019).

Research methods

This is that process that helps in collecting required data and information that involves qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods(Frumkin, 2016). Qualitative is determined as a descriptive collection of data and quantitative is considered as a numerical gathering of data for this research.

How you will select your participants

For the interview process, respondents are selected randomly with no rules and regulations. Simple random selection can be compared with the drawing lots and every respondent has the same chances which are being chosen. Random selection is that method which is used to select the participants for the interview procedures(Heymann, et. al., 2020). This method assists in selecting a sample of respondents from a huge population and they are giving their views and opinions regarding the topic. This is that technologythat is used to evaluate and determine the respondents’ views and reviews and also gain their feedback about public health and disease.

Interview questions

  1. Tell me about yourself?
  2. What is the role of public health?
  3. How is your experience in public health services?
  4. What are the main functions of public health?
  5. As per your opinion, what are the main factors which affect public health?
  6. How do you handle and manage the services of public health?
  7. What are the challenges and issues of public health?
  8. What are the benefits related to public health?
  9. Evaluate and explain the importance of public health for the local communities?
  10. How public health gives support to different communities of people in different countries?

A personal reflection on your motivation for exploring this research question

As per my experience, I evaluate that public health is important for properly improving health outcomes. For this research, there are some research questions are explained which are related to public health and these describethe importance and influence of public health and its associated factors. I think research methodologies have been used for developing the study more understanding and selection of appropriate methods has been done properly by the researcher. I analyzed that the literature review helps in understanding and evaluating the topic in a better manner.

Conclusion

From the above-described report, it has been concluded that public health is important for understanding by the researcher and it helps in gaining depth knowledge regarding public health. A research methodology is used for developing and formulating the study. In this research, the interview process is used for evaluating the respondents’ opinions.
